Jean as Miss PattyCake

Jean Thomason is the live embodiment of the joyful children’s character, “Miss PattyCake”. The music and character of Miss PattyCake allows her to plant biblical truths, broken into musical toddler-size pieces, while helping equip parents lay a spiritual foundation.

Jean as Author

Sharing God’s BIG LOVE with little lives

About three years ago Jean was doing a Miss PattyCake concert at a church in Albany, GA. In the foyer was a large banner which said, “Whoever wants the next generation the

most, will get them.”  Those words pierced her soul.

I have long felt the passion of God

for little lives, and have been doing what I know best – music and videos – to plant seeds of Truth in little lives.

But God was urging me to do more. To go after the next generation in a bigger way -  to take what I have learned in 25 years of personal parenting and children’s ministry, many more years of biblical study, research, leading praise and worship, and share it in an enthusiastic, colorful, encouraging and useful BOOK for parents and teachers, grandparents and caregivers.

So, I DID IT! (with a lot of help from friends, family, and GOD!)

I am excited to share it with you!

The book will take you on a tour of teaching and guiding young children about God’s Love in a Deut. 6:5-7 way – practically and organically, as you are living your normal busy life. It will give you fresh ideas, tools, and enthusiastic confidence as you share God’s BIG LOVE with little lives!

Jean as Speaker and Teacher

Wisdom from the heart behind Miss PattyCake's 23 Year Legacy

Jean's ready wit and engaging presentation speak to the "heart behind the art" of preschool ministry ~ whether at home or in a formal (church/day school/MOPS) setting. Take a moment to watch the video. You will see and hear the passion she has for little ones and their families! Jean's overarching call to action is:  “Whoever wants the next generation the MOST will get them.”

“He has put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God!”  Psalm 40:3

In 1981, this verse initiated a call from God to me, and a change in my life’s direction. I began to pursue a study of praise and worship, which lead to a concert/teaching ministry and staff position at Shades Mountain Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL. Five years later, after marrying Chris Thomason and relocating, I became a worship leader at Christ Community Church in Franklin, TN. Four years later God moved us to Mobile, AL to work for Integrity Music.

Then, we had children…another “new song”. Drawing on my experience and His guidance, the character “Miss PattyCake” was created and I became a teacher/worship leader/ friend to preschool children (and their parents).  For more than 20 years, “Miss PattyCake” has given me opportunities to share God’s BIG love with LITTLE lives! Now, with my first book written to adults, I am again teaching / speaking to BIG lives about spiritual formation in LITTLE ones.

Teaching Topics Jean Stands By

Coaching Parents of Young Children

Parents need enthusiastic confidence for the job of spiritual formation and we can help them! Explore biblical directives and creative ideas empowering parents as they work (with you) to spiritually guide and teach their little children. We can reach outside the walls of the church helping parents with a Deuteronomy 6:5-7 mentality. Jean Thomason (Miss PattyCake) draws on many years of experience as a Bible teacher, worship leader, singer, songwriter, MOTHER, and early-childhood minister.

Pulling Preschoolers into Praise

Exactly what is "praise"?

How is that different from "worship"?

Take a deep biblical look into God's definitions and His methods, then learn 7 strong ways to practice praise for yourself AND for little ones.

P.E.P. Talks (PattyCake Encouraging Parents)

Want some enthusiastic confidence for the job of spiritual formation?

"Miss PattyCake" (Jean Thomason) CAN HELP!

With biblical directives and creative ideas, be empowered to help lay a spiritual foundation in little lives. Jean draws on many years of experience as a Bible teacher, mother, worship leader, singer, songwriter, and early-childhood minister.

Sing Your Way Through the Day!

Music is God's "MAGIC". What does the Bible, history, and today's research say about using music to teach little ones? How can this help empower us to teach/train babies, toddlers, and pre-schoolers?

How can music CHANGE the attitude and atmosphere in your home/church?

Praise: Pathway into His Presence

Studying the seven Hebrew words most often translated into the English word, "praise", Jean shares the need for all of us, as believers, to "Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise..." (Psalm 100:4); and answers the question of how to "put on a garment of praise" (Isaiah 61).

Nursery with a Purpose

Start early! Spiritual formation can begin

 in babies and toddlers.

"From infancy you have known the holy scriptures..."(2 Tim 3:15)

"Nursing infants are gurgling choruses about you, God." (Psalm 8:2)

Jesus held them and put His hands on them, and blessed them. We can do the same!

Making Early Faith Stick

Statistics regarding healthy and lasting faith are depressing. What can we do to create "sticky faith" in children? Can they have authentic encounters with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit? How do we help them chose to follow Jesus?
